Quote of the Week

"So many mothers say they want their daughters to be independent, but what they really hope is that they’ll find a well-compensated banker or lawyer and settle down between the ages of 25 and 28 in Greenwich, Darien, or That Town, USA, to raise babies, do the grocery shopping, and work out in relative comfort for the rest of their lives. I know this, because I employ their daughters. They raise us to think they want us to have careers, and they send us to college, but even they don’t really believe women can be autonomous."

A few things that caught my eye

I was creeping about on style.com when I came across this pic of Kate Bosworth and Chloe Sevigney hosting a party. Kate's outfit looks amazing and Chloe always impresses...aahh those legs!

Someone else whose outfits always catch my eye is Aussie model Jess Hart. She can look red carpet pretty or effortlessly pulls off a vintage Tee, love her!

So I got a little carried away, I'm sure you can see why.

Will I ever learn

I just counted over 15 handbags and more than 30 pairs of shoes in my wardrobe which in relation to many other women (and men) is not that many. What concerns me however is the fact that I lug around the same boring bag every day of the week and wear 4 pairs of shoes (runners, thongs, work shoes, gladiator sandals) very uninspiring.

How depressing it is that I go and and buy these beautiful things for them to just sit there and look pretty, always choosing the sensible options instead....OK, I have to get ready to go out now and I am going to pick out a new handbag and different shoes.

Heidi who?

I don't know why this image affects me so much...I think it is because I have watched "The Hills" numerous times and have actually thought what a naturally beautiful girl Heidi Montag is. The thing I disliked most about her was her other half but lets not even go there!

So "The Hills" have come to an end with their final season, no more constant spotlight for the young celebrity wannabes. So, what to do? How about 10 plastic surgery operations in the one day, that will surely get a little more attention for a while.

Seriously was it really worth it? Check out that mug, I say not...

Heidi Montag coming soon to a poolside near you!

Master Chef

I know I am not the only one who gets hungry (even after just eating dinner) when watching Master Chef! I personally lack inspiration and that is why it amazes me to watch the contestants run in to the pantry and grab ingredients to create a masterpiece. It makes me feel completely inadequate...I do enjoy cooking and I make a mean pizza base from scratch, however, I follow a recipe

Here is something I baked today

Banana Bread (my way)

2/3 cup caster sugar
60g butter, softened
2 eggs
3tbs water
2 very ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup (and a tad more) crushed pineapple
1 3/4 cup plain flour
1tsp bicarb soda
1/2tsp salt
1/4tsp baking powder

Whack the oven on 180 C. Line a loaf pan with baking paper.

Beat the sugar and butter until smooth. Beat in eggs, water, mashed bananas and pineapple.

Mix in the dry ingredients until the mixture is just moistened and combined.

Pour into loaf tin and bake in preheated oven for 1 hour. It's done when the top is firm and golden!

***If you don't like pineapple just add one more banana...but seriously the pineapple rocks
